North Charleston Police ask the public for information regarding December homicide
Jan 10, 2025
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - Family members and friends spoke out Friday regarding a December homicide case that occurred in North Charleston.
The North Charleston Police Department held a press conference for Brown's family, urging the public to step forward with any information they may have from Dec. 3, 2024. Officers responded to a call to an apartment on Lowell Drive. They found a shattered glass door and the victim deceased with a gunshot wound.
"If there is someone or anybody out there that knows anything, please come forward. We need justice," Linda Watkins, mother of Robert Brown III, said. "I understand my son is gone, for you all but not for me, and I won't feel any ease at this until we know who did it and I want to know why."
The victim was 40 years old and originally from Fort Valley, GA. He had a music career and also went by the name Rob Cobain. During this process, his family and friends search for closure and peace.
"We are all still wondering why. Why Robert? There has been no arrests, no weapon has been found, no evidence strong enough to bring the killer down," said Elena Lundy, friend of Brown.
Detectives continue to look for leads as the case is over a month old.
"The biggest thing we want people to know is that I know some people are afraid to be seen talking to police for various reasons. We wanted to reach out and let them know if they want to speak with us without being known that they are talking to us, we have our crime tip line. That and the email," Corey Shaffer, detective of the North Charleston Police Department, said.
"Our detectives of North Charleston, we will dress in plain clothes, dress as construction workers, we'll go rent a car, we'll go meet them anywhere that they want to meet," Shaffer added. "That way they don't have to be seen talking to us if they don't feel comfortable doing so."
If you have any information, and wish to remain anonymous, the tip line is 843-607-2076 and the email contact is [email protected].
