AUSTIN (KXAN) -- One more cold night ahead of us before relatively milder & sunnier weather takes over for the weekend. Overnight lows will fall to the 20s areawide under mainly clear and dry skies. It'll be a good idea to keep a slow and steady drip from faucets tonight, particularly for sinks and tubs that share a wall with the outside. Hard freeze expected Friday night into Saturday morning Weekend weather Although still quite cold in the mornings (20s and 30s), the weekend will feature a notable warming trend with afternoon highs climbing into the mid-50s Saturday afternoon and low 60s on Sunday. NEW: La Niña has officially started: What happens next Mainly sunny and dry skies will make for great weather to run the car through the wash this weekend - a good idea as brine (used on some roads earlier this week) can get kicked up by tires and could damage your vehicle if not rinsed off. Next work week Our next work week is still favored to run a bit cooler than average. Afternoon highs will stay in the 50s through midweek under mainly sunny skies. At the moment, there is no significant chance of rain to look forward to.
