FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An 18-year-old Mendota man was arrested after a shooting on a Fresno County highway in December, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP said the incident occurred on December 11, 2024, around 8:50 p.m., along Highway 33, roughly one mile north of Mendota.

Investigators reported that the suspect, Albert Hinegas Jr., fired multiple gunshots at a victim and their vehicle. Although several bullets struck the victim's car, the individual inside was not injured in the attack. Following the shooting, Hinegas Jr. fled the scene, officers say.
On December 31, 2024, Hinegas Jr. was arrested by the Fresno County Sheriff's Office in Mendota on unrelated felony charges.
Officials say CHP detectives arrested Hinegas Jr. for his involvement in the shooting that occurred in December
