WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- A Wichita man has pleaded guilty in the May 2023 murder of his mother, according to the district attorney's office. Devin N. Joel was found competent to stand trial on Dec. 30, 2024. During the same hearing, he pleaded guilty to: Murder in the first degree Aggravated kidnapping Aggravated robbery Joel was charged in the May 30, 2023, murder of his mother, Kacy Joel. She was found in the backyard of her residence in the 5700 block of East Central Avenue with “significant trauma.” She died later at a Wichita hospital.  Joel was caught after being seen running from the scene. His next court date is set for March 11.
