Autopsy results push Topeka police to investigate local man's death

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Topeka Police Department is investigating an incident from 2024 as a new homicide case.
Rosie Nichols with the City of Topeka said in a press release on Jan. 10 that officers are now investigating the death of Ocelopanhuetzi Texotic-Martinez, 43, of Topeka, as a homicide. The investigation comes after police were called to a local hospital around 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 13, 2024 on reports of a man with life-threatening injuries.
Officers learned medical personnel recovered the man in the 1200 block of Northwest Central Avenue and hospitalized him due to the extent of his injuries. He later died on Sept. 1.

TPD investigators determined in December 2024 his cause of death was a homicide with evidence collected from an autopsy report. No arrests have been made yet in connection to this investigation.
