Syracuse, N.Y. – On the third day of a rare racketeering trial Friday, two defendants expressed their frustrations in court that they were not being allowed to face their accuser.Carl Newton Jr., 38, and Synike White, 32, are accused of acting as members of a Syracuse gang called Uptown, prosecutors said in an indictment filed in Onondaga County Court. They are charged under a New York state law similar to the federal RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act) law, which is rarely used in the state
