What illnesses are on the rise?
Bornschein explained that COVID-19 and flu cases are just beginning to peak, while RSV cases have been high for several weeks.
From late September through December, Rhode Island saw approximately 139 flu-related hospitalizations and 364 COVID-19 hospitalizations, according to Bornschein.

Is it too late to get vaccinated?
"Never too late," Bornschein said.
She noted that while vaccines take about two weeks to provide full immunity, it's still a good idea to get vaccinated sooner rather than later, as the cold and flu season hasn't peaked yet.
How can you prevent the spread of germs?
If you're feeling under the weather, Bornschein recommends:
Washing hands frequently
Staying home until you're fever-free for at least 24 hours
Avoiding coughing into your hands
