State Fire Marshal's Office expands New Orleans services through new program

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Monday, Jan. 13, marks the beginning of the State Fire Marshal's Office expansion in services within the New Orleans region.
According to fire marshal officials, "Area NOLA" will be an additional district in the enforcement division that will focus on "complex inspections within Orleans Parish."

Officials said the inspections will be centered around state buildings, and high-rise buildings as well as ensuring appropriate occupancy is maintained in commercial buildings during special events including Mardi Gras and the Super Bowl.
"Given the numerous state buildings and the complexities of inspections in Orleans Parish, it is vital that we have a dedicated team of well-trained professionals to address these critical areas," said State Fire Marshal Chief Bryan J Adams.
Area NOLA will also work in collaboration with Troop NOLA in the city efforts.

"Our collaboration with 'Troop NOLA,' and the ongoing partnership with the New Orleans Fire Department, is essential for the success of not only New Orleans but our entire great state.
Officials add that Area NOLA will be based at the SFM's regional office in Benson Tower
