WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. -- The winter storm's impact is being felt across the region, with snow-covered roads and icy bridges making travel extremely dangerous. The I-40 bridge, one of the most critical routes in the region, was a concern for some but snow plow crews are doing their best to keep it clear. However, thousands of travelers are still being disrupted, including one family from Blytheville who's trying to escape the weather. Popular West Memphis restaurant open despite winter storm Earlier in the day, Ray Lawrence spoke with WREG and said that he's trying to get his family to Tampa, Florida. But as you can imagine, the snow-filled, slippery roads are making it a challenging journey. "Well, they canceled our flight. It was supposed to be for 7 this morning but now it's scheduled for 2 o'clock," Lawrence said. "This trip was planned two months ago. We didn't know all this was gonna come in but we're just taking our time trying to get to the airport." At this time, it is unknown if the Lawrence family's flight departed on time.
