Lexington officials urge caution ahead of next snow event

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Mayor Linda Gorton, along with officials from the police and fire departments, streets and roads department, and emergency management, held a press conference to address Lexington’s snow plans ahead of the next winter storm.
City leaders are urging residents to stay off the roads and avoid nonessential travel to allow crews to clear roadways effectively.
“This is an unusual situation with the extended cold, ice, and multiple snow events. We’re using all our resources and available personnel, but we must concentrate on our busiest, most-traveled roads,” said Mayor Gorton.
Officials provided safety reminders for those who must be on the roads. They emphasized the importance of clearing snow and ice from windshields and mirrors, carrying an emergency kit in your vehicle, driving slowly, and maintaining plenty of space between vehicles.
Crews remain at work around the clock to ensure road conditions improve as much as possible. For updates on road conditions, visit the city’s official website.
