KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City police are investigating an overnight crash after a car went off a bridge along Interstate 435, killing two women and badly injuring a man inside the vehicle.
Police said the driver of the Honda SUV was going too fast for the weather conditions.
Investigators said the driver of the Honda was headed west on I-435, just before 103rd Street.
The vehicle then went up and over a snowbank lining the highway, vaulting off the bridge.Police said the SUV fell 100 feet, landing in the Blue River.

Kansas City police said the crash happened at about 3:30 Friday morning.
The driver and a person sitting in the back seat passenger side died.
A person in the front seat was badly hurt and taken to the hospital, according to police.
"After we transported the one patient that was in critical condition, like I said, the other two were pronounced deceased on the scene," KCFD Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins said. "At that point we turned the scene over to the police department, who conducts their investigation. After they've completed their investigation, have all the information they need, they called us back out and then we helped to extricate two deceased individuals from the vehicle."
“I just wish people would slow down,” Resident Tracy Hatch said. “I think that's a big factor of why a lot of accidents have been happening with this stuff.”
Hatch lives in Kansas City, Missouri, covering many miles on I-435. Hatch drops her speed when she sees snow on the roadways.
“It's sad that it happened, but I mean if it’s ways we could try to figure out how people, ourselves, to make it better and try to help it out in our own to make it better and plow and shovel, I think we would be a whole lot better,” Hatch said.
Hopkins reminds drivers to take it slow.
“Everything's going to refreeze so even though the roads may look clear, there's a lot of ice still out there. Particularly in the overnight hours once the sun goes down,” Hopkins said. “Just make sure you slow down, take your time, leave extra space between vehicles, things like that.”
