UPDATE: Border Patrol officials said a man-made tunnel that leads from Juarez to El Paso was discovered.
They are calling the discovery a "historic moment" for Border Patrol.
ORIGINAL: EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - Law enforcement in Juarez is searching the drainage tunnels on Friday, Jan. 10, for migrants who allegedly tried to enter the U.S. illegally through the river at Gate 28, officials from Juarez said.
Officials from Juarez said rescue personnel, police, firefighters, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Border Patrol are at the scene.
Border Patrol said this is an ongoing investigation involving a large presence of law enforcement on both sides of the border, in South-Central El Paso, and near the "X" from Juarez's side. Border Patrol said they could not comment if the incident involved migrants in drainage tunnels.
