(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A significant renovation project is underway at the Westside Community Center with the goal of improving accessibility and the guest experience according to Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS). The project includes improvements to the main building, including a new entrance, a lift connecting the main floor to the lower level restrooms, and modifications to inside ramps for ADA compliance. “This renovation project is a vital step towards making the Westside Community Center a more inclusive and welcoming space,” said Felicia Barnhart, WCC parks operations administrator. “By taking these steps, we are not only enhancing our facilities but expanding the opportunities available to everyone in our community.” The project will also replace the HVAC systems along with the roofs and gutters on all three campus buildings and install air conditioning in the middle building and east cottages. PRCS said contractors plan to work around the existing WCC program schedule to limit closures and minimize disruptions to community events. The project is estimated to be finished by December 2025.
