Snow, sleet, and ice seen across the Lowcountry

GREELEYVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – Areas across the Lowcountry saw winter weather on Friday, especially those living more inland.
We traveled from Goose Creek on Highway 52 up to Greeleyville in Williamsburg County to capture some of the sights.
Residents in Goose Creek woke up to see sleet covering windshields and on the ground. It looked like almost a dusting of snow in some backyards of Foxbank Plantation. The top of one hot tub in Cane Bay looked pretty cold.
Further up in Moncks Corner, it was quite frigid at Unity Park where icicles hung from the arms of many of the statues that decorate the park.
As we made our way down Highway 52, if you looked at the trees, some areas looked like there was a full-blown snowstorm at times – but it was just ice.
The trees in Bonneau were coated in a white ice jacket as well. One car was flipped over on the side of Highway 52 between Bonneau and Santee Circle from the hazardous road conditions. South Carolina Highway Patrol said there were no serious injuries.
Over off Greeleyville Highway, you could see what looked like snow on some of the roofs and along the ground… but it was really just sleet that had accumulated.
“It was sleeting and I didn’t think we were gonna get anything,” said Janice McCollum who lives near Greeleyville. “The weather kept saying it was gonna snow, it’s gonna snow and I was like we ain’t gonna get nothing. But I looked out here and sure enough it was piled up in the yard all over, but it’s starting to melt a little bit now. But it was coming down pretty good. You could hear it hitting.”
Most of the winter weather in the Lowcountry appeared to disappear about as quickly as it arrived.
