WILLOW SPRING, N.C. (WNCN) — A body was found in a burned barn after a fire in Willow Spring Thursday night, officials said. According to the Town of Fuquay-Varina, the Fuquay-Varina Fire Department responded to a barn fire behind a home on Panther Lake Road. While extinguishing the fire, they discovered the body of a 47-year-old man inside the barn. The Wake County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene to assist Fuquay-Varina firefighters after the body was found. According to town officials, the cause of the man's death is under investigation by the Wake County Sheriff's Office and the Wake County Medical Examiner's Office. The North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshall is investigating cause of the fire. This is a developing story.
