BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) - The Louisiana State Police is searching for an LSU wide receiver who declared for the NFL Draft in December. Kyren Lacy, 24, of Thibodaux is facing multiple charges including negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run and reckless operation of a vehicle. LSP said Lacy was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger south on LA Hwy 20 prior to the crash. They said Lacy, "recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone." While this was going on, LSP said a truck heading north braked and swerved out of the way of the oncoming Dodge. A 2017 Kia Cadenza was behind the truck an the driver of that vehicle also swerved in order to miss the Dodge. "As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento," LSP said. Lacy is accused of leaving the scene without alerting law enforcement or rendering aid. LSP said Herman Hall, 78, of Thibodaux was a passenger in the Kia Sorrento and died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. LSP said, "Troopers are in communication with Lacy and his legal representation to turn himself in." A spokesperson for LSU said the university doesn't have a comment on the pending legal process. "We have no comment at this time out of respect for the legal process. Lacy graduated in December and did not participate in practice following LSU’s bowl announcement on Dec. 8," said the university. The investigation remains ongoing and more information will be shared as it becomes available.
