AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Police Department identified a man who died in a crash on North Interstate 35 late last month, the agency said in a news release Friday. That man was identified as Dominic Rene Gonzalez, 56, according to police. Officers responded to the crash at 10500 N. I-35 southbound shortly after 1 p.m. for the crash, which happened between two vehicles, the release said. The driver of the first vehicle was identified as Gonzalez, and he was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead on Jan. 6. Police said the driver of the second vehicle was not injured. This is now being investigated as Austin 95th fatal crash of 2024, according to police. The crash remained under investigation by APD Friday.
