Warming shelters open across DC
Jan 10, 2025
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Snow is back in the forecast this weekend across the D.C. metro area, and temperatures are expected to stay below freezing.
About two inches of snow is forecasted to settle in the area late Friday night.
To ensure people who are facing homelessness and people who live in the District have access to shelter, several warming shelters will remain open to escape the cold.
This comes as a cold weather emergency remains in place for D.C. During this time, additional services and support are activated to protect residents from life-threatening illnesses and injuries associated with severe cold weather.
