WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said a woman was arrested after attempting to carjack a man at knifepoint in Northwest D.C. on Feb. 17, 2024. Police said that around 10 a.m., the man was sitting in a running vehicle in the 100 block of Kennedy Street outside CVS when the woman got into the car, pulled out a steak knife, and told him to get out of the car. According to the police report obtained by DC News Now, the woman tried to shift the car into drive but was unsuccessful. During the incident, the man was cut on his hand by the knife, and the woman fled the scene. On Jan. 9, police arrested and charged 35-year-old Tamika Burriss of Hyattsville, Md. with Armed Carjacking (Knife).
