SELDEN, Kan. (KSNW) - A family from Selden was displaced after a fire ravaged their home.
Winter weather is delaying their insurance company from surveying the damage.
The fire happened Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of Kentucky Avenue in Selden. The couple says everything is gone, from clothes to Christmas gifts, all burned in the fire.
Danny and Destiny Easterly found their home incinerated.
"I woke up to the smell of smoke, and when I looked out the back door down on the ground, it was on fire," said Danny.

That's when Danny called a number he didn't want to make.
"I called 911. I got them coming and called her, let her know the house was on fire. Dezzy: yeah, Quinton was at school. Quinton was at school, luckily."
Mom left to explain to their kids they can't come back home.
"I just had to break the news to him, and I told him that our house burned down. He thought I was just joking. He was just like, 'No, it didn't, mom,'" said Destiny.
Quinton, their youngest, lost his cat in the process.
"He [Quinton] rescued her as a kitten in the rain one day, and she was out in the alley, and he called it, and I didn't think he would be able to," said Danny.

Sheridan County Sheriff Brandon Carver set up donations for the family at The Bank.
"He's getting some pretty good Legos and Spider-Man stuff, and so that's pretty cool, got fully equipped there, donated a new excavator for 'em," said Danny.
A community comes together when they need it the most.
"They saw a melted excavator in his room, and they were just like that poor boy," Destiny said.
The couple and their kids are living with a family member. The couple hopes to salvage their home of three years. They plan to remain in Selden and find a new home if they cannot stay.
The sheriff’s office says those wishing to donate can make checks payable to The Bank, include “Etherly Family Fire Donation” in the memo line, and mail them to:
