Snow is coming to an end this morning. Winter Weather Advisories will linger through 9 AM for Kay, Cowley, Elk, and Chautauqua counties, while the rest of the advisories will be allowed to expire earlier. Snow covered roads will make for slow travel, allow the extra time to drive safely this morning. Healthy snowfall totals across south-central Kansas yesterday, with the Wichita area picking up an additional 4 to 6 inches of snow and some places seeing more than that! Temperatures will be cold today, starting in the 20s and gradually warming to near freezing by the afternoon. Sunshine will build across Kansas through the day, and some places out west will make it over the freezing mark especially where there is less snow on the ground. Winds shift to the southwest tonight as we settle in for a cold one, lows in the teens and 20s. Warming up some, with more places reaching back above freezing Saturday afternoon. Snow packed areas will be colder, but the thaw will get started by tomorrow afternoon. Clouds increase through the day Saturday as another cold front enters the area. An area of light rain and snow showers develops and moves south and east through the evening. Little to no accumulation is expected from this activity. Staying chilly this week, but largely quiet as temperatures gradually increase. Finally approaching or exceeding average by the end of the week, but more cold air is looking more likely to follow into the later half of January.
