Letter: Newsom can’t govern our state effectively as he routinely passes the buck
Jan 10, 2025
The identity politics architecture has been fully exposed as exemplified by the pathetic response to the LA County fires. For years, Sacramento’s misplaced priorities have been the norm despite the government’s knowledge that disasters can strike at any time. The result is that people have to fend for themselves to cope with crises that could have been prevented.
Instead of preparing for disasters, a number of public safety budgets have been cut and Gavin Newsom demolished several water storage dams. Instead of building an infrastructure of firefighting resources and water storage facilities, Sacramento was distracted by DEI hiring policies, and wasted billions on homelessness and sanctuary cities.
The LA fires could have been mitigated if water resources had been preserved and adequate personnel were in place. Begging for fire response teams from other states would be unnecessary. Newsom can’t govern a state effectively as he routinely passes the buck. He does the right thing only when an election is looming, or it’s too late, or public blowback to his Orwellian policies is overwhelming.
