Power outage in Petersburg causes several city courts to close, affects 911 calls

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- Several courts are closed in Petersburg and 911 calls are being affected after a power line was damaged by an accident in the city's downtown area on Friday.
At around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, the City of Petersburg reported that Dominion Energy was conducting repairs on a power line that was damaged in an accident.
According to the city, up to 150 Dominion Energy customers downtown may experience a loss of power for the next couple of hours.
According to the Petersburg Bureau of Police, the estimated time for power to be restored is at noon on Friday.
Police said that, as a result of the outage, power is out at Police Headquarters and all 911 and non-emergency calls have been transferred to the Colonial Heights Police Department.
According to the city, the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, General District Court and Circuit Court closed at 10 a.m. on Friday due to a loss of power.
The Circuit Court Clerk's Office and Community Corrections Office are also closed.
