Closings due to inclement Friday weather

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Offices and schools around the Midlands are closing early today due to the possibly of inclement weather.
Forecasters have predicted that parts of the south will be hit with heavy snow, but right here is the Midlands is expecting a wintry mix.
SC STATE MUSEUM:
Museum officials have announced that due to inclement weather, the South Carolina State Museum will close at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 10, to ensure the safety of visitors and staff.
In addition, the museum’s Accessibility Morning event on Saturday, January 11, has been canceled.
The State Museum will reopen to the public at 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 11.
RICHLAND LIBRARY:
Richland Library is planning to close at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10.
Richland Library Ballentine and St. Andrews will close at 10 a.m. on Friday.
All Richland Library locations plan to re-open on Saturday, January 11 at 2 p.m., according to library officials.
Customers can still access the library’s resources and information online by visiting RichlandLibrary.com.
KERSHAW COUNTY:
Due to forecasted weather conditions, and out of an abundance of caution, all Kershaw County Offices, Courthouse, Library Branches, Landfill, and Convenience Centers will close at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 10, said county officials.
Also, the Landfill and all Convenience Centers will delay opening until 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 11.
CITY OF COLUMBIA:
Due to the potential inclement winter weather, City of Columbia facilities will have limited operations on Friday, January 10.
City officials encouraged to access city services on-line or by calling 803-545-3300.
The City of Columbia Payment Center, Municipal Court, Parking Services and Washington Square will be closed.
City parks, recreational and community centers will also be closed.
Public safety and other essential functions will operate as normal, said officials.
RICHLAND COUNTY:
Richland County Government is altering schedules for its facilities with the ongoing inclement weather happening in the Palmetto State.
County offices will close for normal operations at 12 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10 and reopen for business on Monday, Jan. 13.
All County Solid Waste and Recycling facilities will also close 12 p.m. on Friday and will be closed Saturday.
While curbside solid waste collection will continue as conditions permit, residents should expect delays in curbside collection through the weekend.
Richland County’s Jim Hamilton-L.B. Owens Airport terminal and fixed base operator services will be closed from 3 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday, when services should resume as normal, pending airfield conditions.
A winter weather advisory for Richland County, which is in effect until 4 a.m. Saturday, notes expected snow and sleet accumulations of up to a half inch and ice accumulation of 0.2 inches.
Drivers should anticipate hazardous travel, with slick, icy roads and walkways through Saturday morning.
Officials say black ice is possible into Sunday morning.
