CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte Department of Transportation is preparing for the winter storm by making sure roads are safe for drivers.
Several roads across Charlotte have already been treated with salt and brine.
Officials said that will hopefully prevent dangerous ice patches.
CDOT said workers will be on 12 hour shifts starting at 7am Friday morning to respond to any issues once the storm starts.
Their first priority is treating major roadways.
Officials encourage everyone to stay off the roads if possible.
“We don’t want to be in a situation where our crews are trying to fight the snow and rush hour traffic, and we end up with, you know, collisions and other things on the roadway that get in our way and prevent us from getting salt down or, being able to treat areas,” CDOT deputy director Charlie Jones said.
