BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A couple was arraigned Tuesday after a dog was found with untreated stab wounds and two other animals were found neglected in a Clarence home, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced. On Dec. 26, New York State Police responded to a welfare check call on Northfield Road. There, police allegedly discovered a dog with untreated stab wounds to the neck and abdomen, a puppy with an untreated eye injury, and a dog that did not have access to food or water. Investigators seized six dogs and two cats in total from the residence. Brittany Farley, 28, was arraigned on two counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, failure to provide proper sustenance and one count of aggravated cruelty to animals. Nicholas Hatswell, 26, was arraigned on two counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, and failure to provide proper sustenance. The two were released on their own recognizance and are scheduled to return to court next month. A temporary "no animal" order was issued. Farley faces a maximum of two years in prison and Hatswell faces one year if they are convicted.
