'Not an explosive device': APD investigates after reported bomb threat in HEB parking lot

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police responded to a bomb threat call Friday morning in the parking lot of a northwest Austin H-E-B.
APD said police responded to the H-E-B on FM 620 Road near 4 Points Drive around 8:13 a.m. Friday and found an unoccupied, "suspicious" vehicle in the parking lot.
APD's explosive disposal team was investigating the scene. As of 11:32 a.m., APD said its Bomb Squad determined the item was not an explosive device.
According to police, one person was in custody related to the incident.
An H-E-B spokesperson told KXAN the store has been cleared and temporarily closed.
"We are taking all the necessary precautions and are grateful for the swift response of our security teams and first responders. There are no reported injuries. The store was cleared and will be temporarily closed as authorities investigate the situation," H-E-B said.
Police asked people to avoid the area so detectives could continue the investigation.

APD is expected to hold a briefing to provide more information.
