High pressure will slide by on Friday, bringing a much-needed break from the wind and the chill. It won't get much warmer, but high temperatures should reach the low to mid-30s as cloud cover increases. This leads us to our next storm system, which will pass to our south Friday night and into Saturday morning. The timing and path of this storm have stayed consistent over the last few days, and we will avoid any significant snowfall and the worst impacts from this storm. Given how brief and light the snow will be, most of the DMV will only pick up a couple of inches in the worst-case scenario, which pales compared to what we picked up on Monday. Some neighborhoods still haven't fully dug out from earlier in the week, and any additional snow will cause further headaches. So this is something to be prepared for, and out of precaution, we have put a DMV First Warn in place for Saturday morning as we deal with this light snow. The good news is that sunshine will quickly break out Saturday afternoon, and temperatures will climb slightly above freezing. This calmer and slightly warmer setup will continue into Sunday and Monday, giving us a nice start to next week. It will still get cold each night, down into the teens and 20s, so any snowmelt that happens could re-freeze, and we'll need to watch for that. Another surge of wind and cold air will arrive Tuesday and next Wednesday, plummeting high temperatures into the 20s with even colder readings each night. Most of the area will stay dry during this time, but mountain snow across western MD and WV is likely to kick back up. 7-Day Forecast: Today: Increase in clouds with highs in the 30s.
