WESTWOOD, Cali. (WWLP) - As Clarinda Soriano walks her dog in west Los Angeles, she's grateful she can still take him out at the moment.
How to donate to LA wildfire relief
She's just a short distance away from the deadly wildfires that have devastated more than 50 miles of the LA area, killing at least 7 people. "Where I am, I'm about 7 miles from the Palisades Fire," shared Clarinda Soriano. Ollie, Clarinda's dog, enjoying his afternoon ritual. The time of the day where his owner, Clarinda takes him for a stroll, but Thursday evenings is much shorter than usual. "And I think for a lot of people they started wearing masks yesterday," said Clarinda, and she's on facetime seen wearing one. With thousands evacuating in the surrounding neighborhoods, she and her husband are prepared for the worst. "I keep one in the trunk of my car just in case you know. Personal documents, important things…he's brought to his parents house which is about 20 more miles inland," shared Clarinda Soriano, Westwood, CA resident. The Soriano family is staying alert of the possibilities meanwhile continuing on with their daily routine. For Clarinda, that's commuting to work in Santa Monica. "And hopefully it stays that way. We're just kind of taking things day by day, because you never know if the winds shift and they start coming more east that's where it starts to be a bit concerning for us," expressed Clarinda Soriano. Our sister station KTLA in Los Angeles is sharing how you can support wildfire victims on their path to recovery. To get involved click here.
