Though it wasn’t much of a white Christmas in Wyoming — unless you trekked into higher elevations — the white stuff returned this week across much of the state. And much of it, at least in the basin areas and especially along Interstate 80, came in sideways to make for treacherous travel conditions. WyoFile Development Director Daniel Kenah recently made a sojourn to the sidecountry of Antelope Butte in the Bighorn National Forest to enjoy the serene calm that comes with a nice blanket of snow. It’s too early to say what winter has in store, but for now the state is generally drier than normal, carrying 76% of the average “snow water equivalent” for this time of year, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture snow trackers in the state.
