CHARLOTTE, N.C.– A whopping 1.3 million dollar Bluefin tuna sold in Japan last week. The fish was about the size of a motorcycle and weighed 608 lbs. The highest price on record for a giant tuna was back in 2019, when one went for $3.1 million. The Bluefin sold at the country’s prestigious Toyosu Fish Market during their New Year auction. Michelin-starred sushi restauranteurs, Onodera Group, which has locations in Tokyo and Los Angeles, were the lucky winners. The company’s president said “The year’s first tuna brings good luck,” adding they want to “make people smile with food.”
