DC delays some trash, recycling pickup due to snow
Jan 09, 2025
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- District residents may have to hold on to their recycling for a bit.
On Thursday, D.C. announced that it was suspending recycling pick-up for the rest of the week to "get back on track" after snow impacted trash, recycling and food waste collections.
The D.C. Department of Public Works (DPW) said that residents should hold their recycling until next week.
Additionally, most households that usually have their trash collected twice will only have one trash collection day this week.
Cold weather emergency remains active across DC as dangerously low temperatures continue
DPW said that residents should place green trash bins out one day later than usual to follow their slide day schedule.
Officials plan to go back to a normal schedule by Monday.
