Primetime 585 Spotlight Team: World of Inquiry boys basketball
Jan 09, 2025
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The World of Inquiry boys basketball team is 6-0 to start its season, earning this week's Primetime 585 Spotlight Team.
The Griffins are currently ranked No. 1 in Class B in the state and most recently took an impressive win over Marcus Whitman.
World of Inquiry has a skilled backcourt made of Marcus Norwood and Jaedon Adams-Griffin. Curtis Bell and Kanaz Linder excel on defense, and Junayde Dunn-Richardson scores inside, rebounds and protects the paint.
It's no surprise fourth year head coach Willie Mason emphasizes the importance of defense, as his team held Marcus Whitman to just 35 points in the recent win despite coming off of a two-week break.
"We've been off for like two and a half weeks, so we knew we were going to come out sloppy just a little bit, and we were prepared for that," Mason said. "But we told our guys, the eight minutes we would let them get it out of the way. But the next eight, in the second quarter, we were going to lock in, and that's what we did."
As one of the top scorers in Section V, Adams-Griffin helped lead World of Inquiry to the win. When he was switched to running point guard in the game, he became the difference maker.
"It was just easy, I saw him coming, made it by him, passed it out, and someone's open for the three," Adams-Griffin said.
On defense, Bell set the tone for the Griffins. When asked about his defensive skills, he had a simple answer.
"Defensive skills, I've just got to be a dog. Coach brought me here to be a dog," he said. "Being disciplined, you know. That's it, just got to be a dog."
Congratulations to Coach Mason and the World of Inquiry boys basketball team for earning the Spotlight Team of the week!
