Firedelayed opening of SF donut shop set to take place this week

(KRON) -- A donut café is finally opening in San Francisco's West Portal neighborhood. The grand opening was supposed to be last September, but a fire ravaged through the neighborhood and damaged five small businesses.
Georges Donuts & Merriment was one of them.
The café, located at 163 W Portal Ave., is opening on Friday, Jan. 10. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held that morning with newly elected San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie slated to speak.
Customers can join the ceremony starting at 9 a.m.

Georges Donuts & Merriment serves more than just donuts. Menu highlights include "Donut Hole Flight," "Bacon and Eggs Donut," "Strawberry Champagne Brioche," "Apple Fritter," "Churro Dusted Cruller" and a "Tahini Rose Cake Donut." They also serve sandwiches and salads.
"George’s is poised to be a neighborhood hub where all are welcome to enjoy life’s simple pleasures together, including classic and inventive handmade donuts, all day dining and drinks, and joyful design," the café wrote in a press release.
Georges Donuts & Merriment is owned by Lea and Andrew Dudum. In September, they said they were grateful to the firefighters who saved their dream from burning down.
