(KRON) -- Steve Kerr's mother is among the people who lost their homes in this week's Los Angeles fires.
The Golden State Warriors' coach spoke about the fires, which are currently tearing through his childhood neighborhood, before the team's game in Detroit on Thursday. The Kerr family moved into that house in 1969, and his mother still lived there.
Kerr said his 90-year-old mother is fine, and she took as many of her belongings as she could before evacuating.

"She's got a lot of support and friends, so she's safe and sound," Kerr said. "Everything that she could possibly get out she did."
Many of Kerr's friends have lost their homes, and his high school, Palisades Charter, was destroyed in the blaze.
"It's hard to even fathom how Pacific Palisades rebuilds and how it becomes a thriving community again. It's just shocking," he said.
Kerr was able to visit his childhood home for the last time before the Warriors played the Los Angeles Clippers on Dec. 27. They hosted about 100 guests for his mother's birthday over the summer.
Kerr shared that Draymond Green's home in Brentwood is fine. Everett Dayton, who works for the Warriors' player development department, is in Palisades with his family. Kerr said his home appears to be intact.
