Showing an affinity for working hard on deadline, Phillies president Dave Dombrowski and his staff successfully avoided salary arbitration with all six eligible players on the last day before the deadline. Dombrowski announced Thursday that one-year contract agreements had been reached with starting pitchers Jesus Luzardo and Ranger Suarez, along with third baseman Alec Bohm, second baseman Bryson Stott, utility guy Edmundo Sosa and outfielder Brandon Marsh. MLB.com reports that Suarez got the better of the deals, his for $8.8 million for the 2025 season. The outlet also said recently acquired Luzardo reached agreement for $6.22 million and Stott – heavily valued by the Phils but coming off a disappointing season – for $3.2 million. Other reports pegged both Sosa and Marsh as signing for about $3 million and Bohm for $7.7 million, that one according to FanSided.com. The Phillies made a trade with the Miami Marlins last month to acquire Luzardo, who drew a high number because of past success and his status as a hard-throwing lefty. Both Marsh and Stott graduate from near minimum base salaries last year. And Bohm is coming off a 2024 arbitration win that had him at $4 million.
