InfanteGreen: State will 'continue to follow our process' with Providence schools

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — When Providence Mayor Brett Smiley laid out his legislative priorities for 2025, he made it clear that he wants the city to regain control of its public schools by July.
The proposal, however, wasn't met with a warm response from state education leaders, who have overseen the district since 2019.
