The Engine 6 fire station, which serves residents in Kensington, Port Richmond and Fishtown, reopened Thursday after 16 years of being inactive. Based at 2601 Belgrade St., the group was founded in 1871 and operated for more than 100 years before it closed in 2009. It's one of three Philadelphia stations that was restored with the help from a $22.4 million federal grant.
