Cordova neighbors snowed in last year, prepared this year

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Suburban and rural communities were bracing for the winter storm Thursday night.
WREG revisted a neighbor we reported on last year who had trouble even getting out tof a Cordova neighborhood.
Some in the neighborhood had already salted their driveways. They say they are prepared but warn drivers in areas like theirs to make sure they have a way to get out their neighborhood if needed.
Last year residents had quite the time leaving their neighborhood. This woman says it was a lesson learned.
Highways and main roads take priority with plowing
"I remember y'all out here last year, it was hard to get anywhere. So I'm trying to prepare got the covers on the water faucets outside, got groceries."
The woman says she has even had to make plans when getting to work after the snow falls.
"I already got the car backed in where I can come down this drive and just plan to take my time and I have to be there early in the morning, so hopefully a whole lot of people won't be out," she said.
While Tennessee Department of Transportation has been pre-treating roads, the main concerns for TDOT and city efforts are major interstates, highways and roads — not so much for side streets or rural areas.
It's why residents say for those living in those types of areas to have a plan for their home and vehicles.
Heavy snow moves in overnight; winter storm brings a mixed bag for some
"Saturday I would make sure the windows are clean and maybe off the top of it. If you're driving making sure it's not spraying back on other people."
