Person killed in Tippecanoe County singlevehicle crash

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. -- One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Tippecanoe County Thursday night.
According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded around 6:14 p.m. to the 5400 block of Division Road after receiving reports that a serious crash had occurred in the area.
TCSO said deputies arrived on the scene and observed a 2016 Chevrolet Impala that had veered off the road and struck a tree. When deputies tried to make contact with the driver, they were found to be unresponsive.
The driver, who deputies confirmed was a male, was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency personnel. The identity of the driver will be released at a later time.
Preliminary information indicates the vehicle was traveling westbound when the driver came into contact with several deer that ventured onto the roadway. A witness authorities spoke with reported observing the vehicle exit to the left of the road before ramming into a nearby tree.
The Otterbein Fire Department and Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office also assisted at the scene.
The fatal crash remains under investigation.
