Wahine guard Phillips away from team indefinitely

he University of Hawai‘i announced Thursday night that junior guard Daejah Phillips will not be an active member of the Rainbow Wahine basketball program for an indefinite period due to personal reasons. Phillips’ absence began with UH’s game against UC Riverside.
The university’s statement noted that head coach Laura Beeman will not be providing further comment.

Through 12 games this season, Phillips was the Rainbow Wahine’s second-leading scorer, averaging nine points per game. The Las Vegas native has built an impressive résumé, including being named to the All-Big West First Team and earning Big West Sixth Player of the Year honors as a junior. She also received All-Big West honorable mention as a sophomore and freshman and was the Big West Sixth Man of the Year during her COVID-shortened freshman season.
Over her UH career, Phillips has totaled 1,195 points and 160 steals in 115 games.
