The shooting allegedly began as a property dispute between Clark and the victims, who were his neighbors. Clark and his girlfriend, Nancy Rae Medina-Kochis, fled Colorado after the shooting, and both were captured in New Mexico the day after the shooting. They both tried unsuccessfully to fight extradition back to Colorado.
Medina-Kochis was initially arrested on charges of accessory to a crime, but was released in February 2024 after posting bond.
Clark appeared in Custer County Court on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, and entered a not guilty plea to each of the first-degree murder charges, as well the attempted murder and assault charges. His trial is set for June 2025.
