(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Zoo asked the community for help naming a new bull elk in December, and now he has a name. Oswald the elk joined the zoo on Christmas Day, and after a quarantine, he will be joining Ivy and Harley in the Bison & Elk exhibit. The zoo said Oswald is interested in joining the others and can be heard calling out to them. Courtesy: Pueblo Zoo Oswald's team of keepers had narrowed the new bull elk's name down to several choices--Maxie (Maximilian), Oswald, Floyd, or Bane--and ultimately Oswald won! As a reward for voting on the zoo's Facebook page, the zoo offered one lucky winner a behind-the-scenes experience with the Zoo’s bison, Cody and CJ. The winner, Amy Martin Mears, was announced on Thursday, Jan. 9.
