Law Enforcement Appreciation Day honors officers who serve the community
Jan 09, 2025
BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) —Today is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, a national observance dedicated to honoring the men and women who serve and protect our communities. This day provides an opportunity for citizens to express their gratitude for the commitment and sacrifices of law enforcement officers.
Across the country, people are finding ways to say thank you. From delivering snacks and handwritten cards to stopping for brief conversations with officers, the community support is evident. Law enforcement professionals often deal with challenging and high-stress situations, and moments like these remind them of the reasons they chose this career.
January is Birth Defects Prevention Month
“This day is important because it gives us time to think about why we joined law enforcement in the first place,” said Lieutenant Luke Gardiner. “Serving and protecting others is the core of what we do, but it’s easy to lose sight of that when you’re constantly dealing with tough situations. Today, we’ve had folks from the community stop by, drop off snacks, and share words of support. Those moments remind us why we’re here.”
If you’d like to show your appreciation, consider reaching out to your local law enforcement department. A simple thank-you, a card, or even a small token of gratitude can make a big impact.
