The Salt Lick owner announces familyinspired restaurant, Roxie's, opening in Buda
Jan 09, 2025
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Buda's Historic Mill and Grain property will have a new tenant soon. The owner of Texas barbecue staple The Salt Lick announced his next endeavor — a family-inspired restaurant.
Salt Lick owner Scott Roberts will bring family recipes to the Central Texas food community with his new restaurant called Roxie's, inspired by Roberts' grandmother Roxanna, according to a news release.
The release said Roxie's is expected to open in spring 2025. More information about an opening date will be posted on Roxie's Instagram page.
That Buda location was most recently occupied by Valentina's Tex Mex BBQ, which stopped operation at the venue in May 2024, according to the Austin Business Journal.

Roxie's will welcome "family-style dining" as a restaurant and bar, all with the focus of the menu on the family recipes of Roxanna. Roxie's will continue the legacy Roberts said was established for the family's journey in Texas, which helped lay the foundation for The Salt Lick. The restaurant will celebrate "generations of family tradition through authentic flavors and warm hospitality."
“Buda values tradition and community, and that’s exactly what we’re bringing to the table atRoxie’s,” Roberts said in the release. “We want this to be a place where families gather, friends meet and everyone feels at home.”
The menu for Roxie's includes appetizers, like pimento cheese crocks and deviled eggs topped with fried chicken bites, crispy fried chicken, chicken fried steak and char-grilled steak, the release said. Dessert pies are all inspired by Roxie's original recipes. The bar will also include "refreshing margaritas and frozen peach Bellinis."
“Roxie’s has been a dream of mine for the last ten years,” Roberts said. “We are thrilled to launch our first new restaurant in the Buda community.”
