San Diego mayor says 'stay informed' as Red Flag Warning extends through Friday

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A Red Flag Warning has been extended for portions of San Diego County ahead of another bout of strong Santa Ana winds.
According to the National Weather Service, the winds are expected to ramp up again Thursday across the region, becoming the strongest during the evening hours through Friday morning. This is especially true for inland areas.
This round is expected to be slightly stronger than what was felt on Wednesday, meaning the weather is grounds for critical wildfire conditions. Strong gusts are expected along the coastal slopes of the mountains, as well as the valleys. In fact, gusts up to 75 mph are possible for wind prone areas in the mountains, the forecast shows.
San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria is now urging residents to take "proactive steps" in preparation for possible wildfires in the area. He said, "Create your emergency plans, assemble a supply kit and stay informed. Being ready today can make all the difference when faced with wildfire danger."
As it stands, the Red Flag Warning will remain in place until Friday evening,
