SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Fire crews responded to the scene of a small brush fire east of El Cajon in the unincorporated community of Crest Thursday afternoon. According to Cal Fire, the so-called Hamlet Fire was located in the 1100 block of Hamlet Drive and La Cresta Road. Shortly before 1:45 p.m., the fire was reported to be burning around two acres at a slow rate of spread, Cal Fire said on X/Twitter. Firefighters were making good progress as of 1:55 p.m., according to Cal Fire. The agency later posted the fire was stopped around 2:40 p.m. No evacuation warnings or orders were issued.
