Here’s how much it will cost to (possibly) see Messi play in San Jose
Jan 09, 2025
(KRON) -- Tickets for the San Jose Earthquakes' home match against Inter Miami went on sale Thursday. The match offers a potential chance for Bay Area soccer fans to see Miami and Argentina star Lionel Messi in action.
A World Cup-winner with Argentina, an eight-time Ballon d'Or winner, and a serial champion with FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, the 37-year-old Messi is widely regarded as the greatest to ever play the game.
However, fans hoping to see Messi work his magic against the Quakes should be prepared to pay top dollar.

On Ticketmaster, if you can put up with waiting in the queue, tickets for the match start at $476 in the upper sections. Centerline seats below the press box -- with prime sightlines -- were listed for as much as $1,846.
One listing for field-level seats was for $7,020. Other standard seats around PayPal Park were listed for between around $600 and $1,000.
By contrast, tickets for the Quakes regular season outing against the Colorado Rapids four days earlier were available for as low as $23.
Of course, shelling out that kind of cash to see Messi offers no guarantee that you'll actually get to see the GOAT (greatest of all time) in action. Last season, despite being named the 2024 Landon Donovan MLS MVP, Messi missed 15 games due to injury and international duty with Argentina.
Although despite that, he still managed to net 20 goals and make 16 assists in just 19 games. So, for a chance to see that kind of talent in-person, maybe it's worth the money.
