A Tulsa police officer shot a man after he allegedly stabbed another man inside a restaurant near Woodland Hills mall. Officers said a 32-year-old man came into the BJ's restaurant yelling at staff and customers on Jan. 9. The general manager tried to escort him out, which led to a fight and the man pulled out a knife. The manager was stabbed in the stomach, and in the hand, while trying to defend himself, officers said. Then, the suspect left and staff and customers tried to barricade the door. The suspect returned and threw chairs at the door, trying to re-enter. When officers arrived, the man took off with his knife. Officers said they tried to taser him multiple times, but it didn't work. They are unsure why. The suspect was running towards the mall when TPD decided he was a risk to public safety, and an officer shot the man in the leg. Both the general manager and the suspect are in the hospital and expected to recover. Police haven't learned of any past history between the suspect and the manager.
