Police seek to ID body recovered from Savannah River

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Police are working to identify a body recovered from the Savannah River Sunday morning.
The Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) said the remains were found in the river near Ursula Island around 10:25 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5.

The unidentified Caucasian male appears to have been between 60 and 70 years old, weighed 165 lbs. and was 5’8” tall, CCPD said. The man had a long, white beard and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt and a black beanie on his head.
CCPD also shared a photo of a distinctive tattoo he had on his left bicep.
Savannah PD asking for help identifying a person of interest
Officials said the man's cause of death and whether any foul play may be involved will be determined by autopsy results, which are pending.
